Pure and Certified Organic Maitake — Grifola frondosa — the "dancing mushroom" of Japanese mountain herbal tradition, grown in Portugal. Naturally rich in beta-glucans and polysaccharides. 10:1 dual extracted for the full spectrum.
For daily antioxidant richness and natural metabolic balance — the overlooked mushroom that nutritional research keeps coming back to.
What's maitake
Grifola frondosa — Maitake, the "dancing mushroom" — gets its Japanese name from the folk story that those who discovered it in mountain forests danced for joy at its value. It grows at the base of oak trees in mountain communities, particularly in the forests of Kochi and Osaka in Japan, and has been foraged and prized in Japanese herbal practice for centuries. In Western markets it is also known as Hen of the Woods for its layered, ruffled appearance.
In head-to-head nutritional research comparing Maitake, Reishi, and Lion's Mane, Maitake showed the highest naturally occurring flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of the three — making it nutritionally distinctive even within the already-impressive family of studied functional mushrooms. Gribb grows Maitake on their own certified-organic farm in Portugal under PT-BIO-10 and dual extracts it to a 10:1 ratio — each 2,000mg serving equivalent to 20,000mg fresh fruiting body — standardised to 32–40% beta-glucans (β1,3/β1,6)

Ideal for
- You want the functional mushroom with the highest naturally occurring flavonoid content of those studied — confirmed in head-to-head research Head-to-head research comparing Maitake, Reishi and Lion's Mane confirmed Maitake has the highest flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of the three. Flavonoids are among the most studied naturally occurring plant and fungi compounds for antioxidant properties. The standalone powder delivers the highest Maitake dose in the range — 2,000mg of 100% Grifola frondosa per serving, dual extracted 10:1.
- You want the "dancing mushroom" of Japanese mountain herbal tradition at full concentration — not at 12.5% or 15% in a blend Maitake appears in the Radiance Blend (25%), Golden Hour (15%), and both Master Blends (12.5–20%). The standalone powder delivers 100% Maitake — the most flavonoid-rich functional mushroom in the range — at its full 2,000mg dual extracted 10:1 dose. The most Maitake available anywhere in the Gribb range.

How to use
- Powder: Add 1 small tsp (2g) to your favourite drink, smoothie, yogurt, or recipe. Blends invisibly — no flavour impact.

Best taken consistently as part of a daily routine. Most people notice changes in skin hydration and texture after 3–4 weeks of consistent use.
What to expect
Ritual beats intensity. Same time, every day. That's the whole game.
WEEK 1–2
Your body is absorbing and adjusting to the blend. The functional mushrooms
and adaptogenic botanicals need time to build in your system — most people
notice little change yet and that is completely normal. Stay consistent.
WEEK 3
This is usually when subtle shifts begin. Days feel slightly more even. The
afternoon dip that used to derail you starts to feel less sharp. Not a spike —
a steadier floor.
MONTH 1+
The cumulative effect. Most people at this point notice the difference on the
days they forget to take it. The vitality feels like yours — not something
borrowed from caffeine.

Why dual extraction matter
Most functional mushroom products use a single extraction — which means they only capture part of what this mushroom has to offer.
Gribb's tincture uses a dual-extraction process: first with hot water to release the water-soluble beta-glucans, then with organic alcohol to extract the fat-soluble compounds. The two extracts are then combined into a single, full-spectrum liquid. It's a more time-intensive method — and the reason this tincture delivers what a capsule or powder alone cannot.

Frequently Asked Questions
HeriFlavonoids are a large family of naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds found in plants and fungi, among the most studied categories of phytonutrients for their antioxidant properties. In a head-to-head nutritional comparison of Maitake, Reishi, and Lion's Mane — three of the most studied functional mushrooms in nutritional science — Maitake showed the highest total flavonoid content and antioxidant activity of the three. This means Maitake brings a distinct antioxidant dimension to any formula it is part of, separate from and complementary to the triterpenoids of Reishi or the hericenones of Lion's Mane. The dual extracted 10:1 powder captures both the water-soluble beta-glucans and the fat-soluble flavonoids in a single serving.
The name Maitake (舞茸) translates literally as "dancing mushroom" in Japanese — from the folk tradition that those who found it in mountain forests danced for joy at its value. Grifola frondosa grows at the base of old oak trees in the mountain forests of Japan, particularly in the Kochi and Osaka regions, and can form enormous multi-kilogram fruiting bodies. It was prized both as food — its flavour is exceptional — and as a herbal medicine in Japanese mountain communities for centuries. In Western markets it is also known as Hen of the Woods, for its layered, ruffled appearance resembling a hen's plumage.
Maitake appears in the Radiance Blend (25%), Golden Hour beverage (15%), the Yoni blend (25%), the 5 Mushroom Master Blend (20%), and the 8 Mushroom Master Blend (12.5%). The standalone powder delivers 100% Maitake at 2,000mg — the most Maitake per serving anywhere in the Gribb range. If you are already taking a product that contains Maitake and want to increase your total daily Maitake intake, combining the standalone powder with your existing blend is the most effective approach.
It means the mushroom is extracted twice using two different solvents. First, hot water pulls out the water-soluble compounds — primarily beta-glucans and polysaccharides. Then, organic alcohol extracts the fat-soluble compounds — including riterpenoids — that hot water cannot reach.
The two extracts are combined to create a single full-spectrum tincture. It's more labour-intensive than single extraction, but it produces a significantly more complete product.
It means 10kg of raw mushroom is concentrated down to produce 1kg of extract powder. So each 2g serving of Gribb's powder is equivalent in potency to 20g of the raw whole mushroom.
This concentrated format ensures every dose delivers a meaningful, standardised amount of beta-glucans and bioactive compounds — not just mushroom powder with unknown potency.
Beta-glucans (β1,3 and β1,6) are the primary bioactive polysaccharides found in functional mushrooms, and they're what most of the research into mushroom wellness focuses on.
The standardisation to 32–40% beta-glucans tells you that every batch of Gribb's mushrooms contains a consistent, meaningful amount of these compounds — not just mushroom powder of unknown potency.
It's the difference between a functional product and a decorative one.
If you already have a morning smoothie, matcha, or yogurt ritual — the powder is the obvious choice. It blends invisibly and adds zero preparation time.
If you'd rather not think about it at all, the capsules are exactly what they are: 2 capsules daily with water, done. Both contain the same extract at the same dose. The choice is purely about how you prefer to take it.
Yes — is designed for daily use as part of a consistent wellness routine.
As with any supplement, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition, or are taking medication, please consult your healthcare provider before starting. This is a food supplement, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Yes. Every mushroom used in Gribb's Lion's Mane tincture is grown on Gribb's own certified-organic farm in Portugal — certified under PT-BIO-10. No third-party mushrooms are ever used, which means full traceability from spore to bottle. Every batch is lab-tested for beta-glucan content and purity before it leaves the farm.
